Norfolk Home Call, Norfolk County Council's highly successful directory of accredited voluntary agencies and businesses has been relaunched to help elderly, disabled or housebound people in Norfolk remain independent in their own homes.
Over 475 businesses are in the directory - all of whom have undergone a process of accreditation, requiring background checks carried out by Trading Standards, references from happy customers and a minimum of £2million public liability insurance in place.
Providers all sign up to core standards of Norfolk Home Call, which include having a clear pricing policy, providing written receipts and ensuring that staff are appropriately trained to carry out their work.
As well as the directory Norfolk Home Call operates an information and advice line on 01603 495109 giving over the phone advice about services to use and trading standards advice about the best way to buy services and advice on bogus callers and rogue traders.
Norfolk Home Call is also available online at: www.norfolkhomecall.org. A range of services are available from handymen, help with shopping, bathing and personal care to patios and pathways.
Chris Mowle, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services said: "At some time of our lives, we all need to hire the services of people or a company that we might not have good information about. Norfolk Home Call helps you to give peace of mind in your selection, whether you need a plumber, carpenter, gardener or home help you will find pages full of them in Norfolk Home Call."
For a copy of the directory, advice on a service to use or if you are a business or organisation and are interested in becoming accredited then telephone Norfolk Home Call on: 01603 495109.
