South Norfolk's new champion of culture is pushing the wonders of art in the Waveney Valley on Saturday (3 July) when she hits the bike trail with her family.
Cycling Councillor Michelle Monck will be pedalling a new message to visitors and residents that art in the beautiful Waveney Valley is one of this county's thriving cultural wonders.
She and her family will be riding the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail between 10am and 4pm meeting up to 30 professional artists at their studios and workshops.
Their works cover painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, textiles, graphic design, pottery and prints.
Councillor Monck said:
"This a brilliant way of getting some exercise, enjoying the beautiful Waveney Valley countryside and viewing some of the best art in the region!"
Her route will include:
- a start at Ditchingham where Noelle Francis, Dom Theobold, and Jilly Szaybo - all painters and a printmaker - and Poppy Szaybo, a photographer will be showing their works.
- then she will cycle down Denton Low Road to call in and see Mark Goldsworthy, sculptor, who has been the leading light in creating Harleston and Waveney Art Trail's "Are We On The Right Trail?" elephant - part of the "Go Elephants!" parade.
- then onto Harleston, calling on Alan Frewin (potter and painter) at Millhouse Pottery and visiting the Harleston Gallery and Studio Café which is hosting a “taster” exhibition of local artists work from 1 to 28 July.
Finally the family will cycle via nearby Needham to Gill Levin (painter) before going to Brockdish for a meander around Parr and Lyne's sculpture meadow with glorious views over the Waveney Valley.
