Competitions, special effects make-up demonstrations and animation workshops are among events planned in Norfolk County Council libraries during Film Month this May.
Children from three Norfolk schools* will be working with Tim Edwards, a local animator, to create a short animated film, while favourite children's book illustrators Robert Crowther and Peter Kavanagh will host workshops around the county.
And at Hellesdon and Wroxham library visitors will be invited to watch make-up artists create screen horrors such as werewolves and aliens.
As well as three for two offers on all DVDs, everyone who borrows at least five film titles during May will be entered into a draw to win a Nintendo Wii console.
“Whether you prefer to read the book or watch the film we've thousands of titles in stock”, said Jennifer Holland, Norfolk County Council's Head of Libraries and Information.
Film month opens with a drop in session on movie art at the Norfolk & Norwich Millennium Library on Friday May 2, hosted by Peter Kavanagh - who will also lead an illustration workshop for seven to 12 year olds at Holt library the following day.
All libraries have DVD collections, with loan charges starting from £2 for two nights.
New films arriving in May include Charlie Wilson's War, Aliens vs Predator, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days - as well as new titles featuring Postman Pat and Thomas the Tank Engine.
Norfolk libraries are also among stockists of East Anglia Film Archive special collections - including a new ten-volume Bygones Specials.
Further information on film month activities is available from local libraries and at www.library.norfolk.gov.uk. All events are free. Under eights must be accompanied by an adult.
